We need financial help to keep this program afloat beyond July 2008.

The major costs of the program are three-fold.
  1. Hiring undergraduate student presenters. All the presentations are done by undergraduates and they benefit from this experience in many ways. The undergraduate students get a chance to help elementary and middle school children, improve their public speaking skills and understand basic physics principles better.  The school children certainly connect better with the undergraduate presenters rather than university professors.
  2. Van rental and associated costs. We transport all the equipment from UCI to the schools in a cargo van. A new or used van is big on our list of requirements.
  3. Remuneration for faculty who train the undergraduates and manage the shows.
The cost to keep this program running over the entire year (three quarters) is about $35,000 to reach about 10,000 school children in the Orange County area. The cost is lesser (by about $7K) if we don't have to rent the van.
