8th Annual
Theoretical Astrophysics in
Southern
California (TASC) Meeting (2008)
Overview
............................................................
The 2008 Theoretical Astrophysics in
Southern California (TASC) Meeting
is scheduled for Friday, October
24th, 2008
at the campus of University of
California at Irvine (UCI) and will be
hosted by the Department of Physics
and Astronomy at
UCI.
In previous
years, the TASC meeting has been hosted by Caltech (2001 TASC 01),
KITP
at Santa Barbara (2002 TASC 02),
and UCLA Physics and Astronomy (2003 TASC
03), UCI (TASC
2004), Caltech (2005), UCSB (TASC
2006), and UCLA (TASC 2007).
As in
previous years, the one-day meeting is intended as a
venue to bring together
the Southern California Theoretical
Astrophysics community (faculty,
researchers, postdocs, students) so as to help each other
become familiar with broad range of research activities in the area.
We will have
talks (following an informal format) on
current research
and the preference will be given to graduate students and postdocs. We
give equal time to all speakers (in the past,
this has been approximately 10 minutes to each talk). A competent group
of
judges will present at least one prize for the best student talk at the
meeting.
