The Norman Rostoker Internship at TAE Technologies
The Department of Physics and Astronomy in partnership with TAE Technologies invites applications for a paid, Prize Internship position: The Norman Rostoker Internship at TAE Technologies, to begin in late June 2019.
TAE Technologies has a core mission to develop commercial fusion energy with no harmful byproducts. The company was founded twenty years ago by UCI Physics & Astronomy Professor Norman Rostoker and his student, Dr. Michl Binderbauer, who is now CEO of TAE.
The Rostoker Internship is targeted at senior UCI undergraduate students who will complete a B.S. degree in Physics or Applied Physics during the 2018-2019 academic year, though exceptional junior-level candidates will be considered. The internship will be for three months, starting in late June 2019, with extensions beyond three months possible. Students who intend to enter the workforce upon graduation (rather than going to graduate school) are specifically encouraged to apply. The hourly pay will be approximately $20 per hour depending on degree status of the successful applicant.
Applicants should send a CV, statement of experience, and two letters of reference to Professor Heidbrink (Bill.Heidbrink@uci.edu) by April 15, 2019. The CV should include current GPA and programming language proficiency. The statement of experience should be no longer than 2 pages and detail any background work in a laboratory or scientific projects, though no specific experience is a prerequisite. A job description specifying the nature of the work is available here.
