Abstract:
Should you try to communicate your science directly to the public, or just publish in traditional scientific venues? Will it help, or hurt your career? Scientists at all levels have new opportunities and are facing these questions.
I will describe my journey in science communication, via mass-market popular science books, podcasts and educational television production, talk frankly about the effect on my career, and give some guidance to scientists considering dipping their toes into the public arena.
