Abstract: The Standard Model is a self-interacting theory. As a result, when dark matter interacts with one part of the standard model, it really gains the ability to interact with many different particles. I show how one can use loop calculations in QFT to repurpose existing dark matter constraints on the dark matter-electron cross section to learn about dark matter-nucleon interactions in parameter space that is difficult to reach with direct detection experiments.
