Abstract: Galaxy and halo formation in the overall context of cosmological structure formation is a computationally challenging topic. However, the calculations of the "simpler" single-halo infall problem reveal already a lot of the inherent physics at play, when considering various dark matter candidates. In this talk, I will focus on a comparison between CDM and SFDM/FDM models, in terms of fundamental dynamical differences and similarities, and add a few comments on how to distinguish these observationally.
